Description
A vintage print of a painting done by a Private Stephen H. Sheldon, of an unnamed Black soldier, while part of the Vietnam Combat Art Program.According to information I've found online, Sheldon was part of the "CAT III" iteration of the program from February to June, 1967.
This appears to be scarce.
It seems prints from this series were issued in commercially available portfolios, though I am unable to track down specifics of how and precisely when this one was issued.
It measures approximately 16" x 20."
I purchased this recently at a St. Louis-area estate sale and was told by those running the sale that the homeowner was the model for this piece. I have no way of verifying this claim, but have included a snapshot photo and small prayer card from a "Mission for the Colored" in Alabama that were set behind this piece in a frame. His last name was Eckerle if that helps at all.
This will be safely and sturdily packed flat, shipped via UPS Ground same business day as payment. Please don't hesitate with questions and thanks for looking.
