Description
Prohibition Prescription Old Whiskey Doctor Stub San Francisco CA 1930 MeaslesA great original Prohibition doctor's prescription stub for Frumenti, the US pharmaceutical term for Whiskey...Zxvi (pint)...for Measles (rare ailment)! This stub was retained by the doctor and was open to inspection by Federal Officers! Please see photos!
From the days of Al Capone, speakeasies and moonshine this was the only legal way to drink liquor in the US!
The whiskey was prescribed for Mr. Frank Bauman, by Dr. Ellinwood, of San Francisco, CA on January 7, 1930. It was issued by the Treasury Department and when held to the light, PROHIBITION is partially watermarked.
The prescription stub measures 4 1/2" by 3", has light bends, otherwise, condition is excellent...a great ditty from the Prohibition!
