Quoting from wolfeboro.com history:  "Years ago, the town and in fact the state had no liquor stores as we know them today.  The only legal sources for liquor was from the town's liquor 'agent.'  In most instances the agent was a pharmacist.  In order to sell spirits, one had to obtain a special federal tax stamp.  The outlets were primarily for the sale of liquor for "medicinal purposes."  The size is 10-1/2" x 6-1/2" x 4".
